Stop-Motion Build - LEGO City - Airshow Jet

After learning how to create stop motion videos today I decided to up my game and create my first Stop-Motion build video. This took quite a bit of time but the pay off was well worth it. This 43-second clip probably took me about 2 hours to shoot. I have a long way to go, that's for sure. I need to master a lot of lighting techniques and movement techniques still. But that's half the fun and you guys will get to watch the content become better over time. Enjoy!

My first attempt at a Stop Motion video

Through the help of Stop Motion Studio I was able to learn how to create these little stop motion videos. This was a lot of fun to do but took a lot more time than I thought it would. It was frustrating at first but then I found out how to have the tools within the app itself and it became quite easy. Hopefully there will be more of this to come in the future!

Through his lens. New content concept?

So I recently got a minifigure with a camera accessory and I thought it might be cool to take some pictures of them taking pictures of the world around us.  Photo sets like these give me the cool 4th wall feeling as the toy and real world around us come together. It's a good visualization of what can happen when your hobbiest try to manifest themselves in everyday life. One picture from our point of view, another from their point of view.

Time-Lapse Build - LEGO City - Jungle Starter Kit

Here is the time-lapse video to accompany the Let's Build I just did of the Jungle Starter Kit. I did this around 3:00am so you can see I am in my pajamas. I hope that doesn't deter anyone from watching and taking this video seriously (as seriously as you can take a LEGO time-lapse build video). As always, Enjoy!

Time-Lapse Build - LEGO Creator (3 in 1 ) - "Speed Boat"

Here is the time lapse build to accompany the "Let's Build" of the Speed Boat I published today. I'm still working on perfecting the lighting and quality of my videos, so bear with me and I'm sure you will see some improvements.

Let's Build - LEGO Creator (3 in 1) - "Speed Boat"

Today I did another set build from the LEGO Creator set 31071. It has 109 pieces included in it and has 3 different ways to build. I started off with the Fighter Plane build and now I have moved onto the Speed Boat build. The spotlight and the giant fan on the back are easily my favorite part of this build. There were a few parts that I had actually never used before and it taught me a few ways to use them in the future.

Brixinit Box #1 - Unboxing and Review Video - May 2018

I finally took the plunge and ordered a 3-month subscription to the  Brixinit Box . I received this at the very beginning of May but I had not been able to open or review it because I've been swamped with work and gathering paperwork to buy our first house (there is so much involved with that, and working 3rd shift doesn't help!). So today I finally opened and reviewed the box so that newbies could see what all comes with the Brixinit Box. I was very pleased with everything that came with the box. It was a very simple and clean box without the extra bloat and "swag". This is for sure geared toward the older LEGO community members. That isn't to say that people of all ages wouldn't enjoy this box. I did a 3-month subscription which ran me about $87 for the Tier 1 box. There are different levels you may choose, but I kept it basic and simple the first time around. In the future, I am sure I will up my game when I have more free time and cash to spend (those ...

Idea For New Content

Brick-Venture? So I've been thinking of finding a new way to create some interesting content. My "Let's Build" and "Time-Lapse" videos only reach to certain interest groups and I know it isn't for everyone. I was thinking of collecting some Minifigures and beginning to take pictures of them out in the real world. I have seen many LEGO Photographers do projects like this while out and about in their daily lives. It's sometimes fun to pose a minifigure in a real-life setting and see what sort of crazy shots you can take with them. I feel this would a great way to share the love of LEGO in a real-life setting while giving some insight as to what my wife and I do in our daily lives. It might seem childish but this whole blog is somewhat dedicated to the quirky and childish craft of LEGO and bricks in general. If this is indeed something I go forward with, be on the lookout for LEGO minifigures in crazy places doing some silly things. And be su...

Time-Lapse Build - LEGO Creator (3 in 1) - "Fighter Plane"

I recently picked up the LEGO Creator set #31071 which is a 3-in-1 build. It's orange so clearly, it was the first 3-in-1 that I decided to pick up and make content with. I started off with the Fight Plane (if that's the official name?) build and I plan to do the Speed Boat, and then the Helicopter (again, I don't know if that is their official names) build. It'll be great being able to creator 3 different sets of content with just one purchase! So, from this, I decided to make time-lapse for each different build that this set has to offer. Enjoy!

Let's Build - LEGO Creator (3 in 1) - "Fighter Plane"

Today I did a set build from the LEGO Creator set 31071. It has 109 pieces included in it and 3 different ways to build. I started off with the Fighter Plane build. The front rudder and 2 blades are probably my favorite part of this set. It's a very minimalistic build and I think I gravitate towards those builds more than very complex styles and builds.

First Brixinit Box Is On The Way

I'm super excited to say that my first Brixinit Box is on the way. I had done the first tier of box and I got a 3 months subscription. For those that are unfamiliar with  Brixinit , it is basically a monthly subscription box of LEGO pieces and other fun content. The box has 3 different levels that you can order and they all have varying prices and pieces that are included. The boxes I order are going to be level 1 which is the most basic box Brixinit has to offer. I plan to review the box and do a video opening it so everyone can see what exactly comes in one of these wonderful boxes. The idea of these boxes is that it gives you unique and possibly rare pieces to add to your LEGO creations. It's not exactly a set that you are to build, but rather a way to help you build your own creation (think MOC - My Own Creation). I haven't done any MOCs yet because my LEGO collection isn't very big yet, however I feel like with the help from Brixinit that this problem won't las...

Time-Lapse Build - LEGO City - "Jungle Buggy"

Finally got around to making another video. I've been going back and just doing photo shoots of past sets that I have built. I'm almost done archiving all of those, so going forward all of my content SHOULD  be accompanied by a time-lapse video. This build is of the "Jungle Buggy" set from the LEGO City series. It is number 60156. It was a SUPER simple build but the style of the Buggy made it very fun and rewarding to build. This was shot using my Google Pixel 2 this time instead of my Samsung NX1000, so the quality may be a bit different. Let me know what you think, Enjoy!

Let's Build - LEGO City - "Jungle Buggy"

A fresh, new build from today! This one has a time-lapse video to accompany it as well. These tiny builds are a lot easier to manage in terms of photos and videos. Any build that starts to take too long and recording equipment starts to hate me! This is from the LEGO City series. It is item 60156 and contained only 53 pieces. I had a unique branch piece left over, so I am happy with the extra parts. Overall I think this build was pretty fun and I like the style of the Jungle Buggy itself. The Red Spider, as well as the blue gem piece, will be fun to utilize later.

Let's Build - LEGO City - "Airport VIP Service"

Here is another build without a time-lapse video that I had done a long time ago. This depicts a successful business woman as she leaves her Limo and takes flight to her next business ventures.  This is set number 60102 (again, you can see it on the plates of the vehicle) and was 364 pieces altogether. I actually got a lot of leftover parts from this build and I'm hoping to use them elsewhere at some point. Overall, a very easy build but it did take a while to construct. I enjoyed that it depicted the successful person as a woman. Always nice to see the diversity in these LEGO sets.

Let's Build - LEGO Creator - "Treehouse Adventures"

Here is a other build that I did a while ago. This one had three different ways to build and this was the set up that I chose to do. Two kids enjoying a treehouse without the burden of the adult world on their shoulders. Plenty of fun things to do in and around their treehouse, and it even has a Bluejay and a Frog! This is set #31053 and contains 387 pieces. It was a medium difficulty build and I did struggle a little bit because there was a mechanical part that allows the bridge to raise and lower as you open and close the set.  Again, I do not have a time-lapse video for this set because I made it before I even thought about taking video of my builds. Also, you may notice the strange and intense lighting as well as the white background. This is because I bought a photography box with different backdrops and LED ring lights. This is an improvement from my previous photos (maybe?) and may help inprove my photo quality. Enjoy!

Let's Build - LEGO City - "City Pizza Van"

Here is a build that I did a while ago before my craze of capture content started. This set was actually a gift my wife bought me one night. She has gotten herself a Disney Princess castle to build and I got this set to build. It is set item #60150 ( you can see it on the front and back bumper. I like clever code placement like that) and contain 249 pieces.  I do not have a time-lapse video to accompany this build since it was done a while ago. Going forward I'm going to try and capture all builds though. Enjoy!
